Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What musical genre would you consider 'The EverDead' to be in?
A: 'Dark Rock' or 'Horror Rock', although 'Dark Rock' would be a bit more accurate.
Q: Who created this website?
A: This all new website was designed by Ghoul (Dravean's little brother) and Adam Dravean with input from the other EverDead members. Ghoul handled all the technical aspect of the site and almost all of the text on this website was written by Adam Dravean. The website art was done by Jenna Dickes-Deleo.
Q: When are you guys ever going to come and play at -insert city/state- ?
A: We're a poor band, and some of us have jobs that we can't afford to lose, so it's hard for us to play out of state shows. If you would like to set up a show with us, go to the contact section and shoot us an email and we'll try to set something up. Sorry, but we can't afford to travel a long distance and play a show without getting paid.
Q: Are you guys into Satan?
A: Sure, Satan's a funny guy.
Q: Aren't you afraid you're going to burn in Hell?
A: After playing through DooM several times, we're confident in our ability to fight our way out of Hell.
Q: You guys say some pretty unbelievable things in the band history section. Did any of that stuff really happen?
A: Yes. It's all true.
Q: I heard you guys are badasses, is this true?
A: Yes.
Q: What bands are The EverDead's main influences?
A: Obviously Glenn Danzig's three bands: The Misfits, Samhain, and Danzig are a huge influence on us. Our other main influences would probably be 'The Damned' and 'The Dwarves'. We're also influenced to a lesser extent by 'Type O Negative', 'Strung Out', 'A Fire Inside', 'Balzac', and 'Mr. Bungle'. For some reason other websites have often reported that 'TSOL' and 'The Cramps' are main influences on us, but in truth none of us were big fans of either of those bands.
Q: Hey, I'm in a horror rock band so I was wondering, could we link to each other's pages?
A: Send us a link, if we really like you, then we'll link to you. Don't give us any shit about "supporting the community". Like any genre, most horror bands suck. We will link to the few that we find to be a cut above the rest. However, every band should link to The EverDead.
Q: Is it true that you guys released albums through a Conservative Punk label? Are you guys Conservative Punks?
A: No, and fuck no. Sin, the owner of @ntidote Records, supports Conservative Punk and sometimes writes for the Conservative Punk website. However, his record label has nothing to do with politics and most of the bands that work with his label do not share Sin's political ideals. The EverDead's political views are extremely non-conservative.
Q: I heard that the guy who runs @ntidote Records rips off the bands he works with. The EverDead has had dealings with @ntidote Records for a long time. Has @ntidote Records ever ripped you off?
A: No, @ntidote Records has never ripped us off or stolen money from us. We've heard of it happening to other bands, but it never happened to us.
Q: How come you guys are assholes that won't support any scenes or movements?
A: Because we don't give a fuck about making friends and taking part in group hugs. We support who we like. When bands start supporting other bands simply because they are a part of the same 'scene', that gives rise to terrible bands that live under the delusion of being good because they are part of the scene and so the scene supports them regardless of how much they suck. It's the 'I'll scratch your back if you scratch my back' mentality and we hate that shit. We're actually pretty nice guys. We just speak our minds and refuse to deal with bullshit.
Q: I heard you guys are assholes with 'Rock Star' attitudes. Is that true?
A: We're not phony. We act the way that we are, and we would act this way regardless of being in a rock 'n roll band. To some people, that makes us assholes with 'rock star' attitudes.
Q: What's The EverDead's thoughts on the original Misfits VS. the "resurrected" Misfits that formed in '95?
A: Ok, first off, here's some fun facts concerning this subject: Glenn Danzig formed The Misfits. He wrote all the music, wrote all the lyrics, sang all the songs, managed the band, booked the shows, and did the artwork, and handled much of the photography. Jerry Only played the bass, helped fund the band, and helped Glenn create the band's image. Glenn disbanded The Misfits in '83 and went on to create the legendary bands Samhain and Danzig. Meanwhile Jerry Only went on to 'renounce his evil ways', change his name to "Mo The Great", and form a Christian Cheese Metal band called "Kryst the Conqueror" (For real, I'm not making this up). After failing horribly, Kryst the Conqueror disbanded. By that time "The Misfits" had reached legendary status and their CD's were selling very well. Suddenly being a Misfit once again sounded like a good idea to 'ol Mo the Great. He changed his name back to Jerry Only, and was once again 'down with the dark side'. He asked Glenn if he'd do a Misfits reunion tour, and when Glenn shot down the idea, Jerry took him to court to battle for the rights to perform as "The Misfits". Years later Jerry Only got his wish. In '95 a new band calling themselves "The Misfits" was born. Remember, none of this is fabrication, these are the facts. So to sum up The EverDead's thoughts on this matter: The Misfits were a great band that disbanded in '83 when Glenn Danzig went on to bigger and better things. They should not be confused with the current band calling themselves 'The Misfits'. Although we do not support the 'resurrected' Misfits, we will admit that they did write some good songs ... and Doyle rules.
Q: Are you guys trying to make any certain political or social statements?
A: Our music is meant to entertain. For those who really want something deeper, it's there (usually), but we're not going to punch you in the face with our messages. Read into our songs whatever you wish.
Q: How come some of your lyrics are so vulgar and offensive?
A: Because Adam Dravean is a sick fuck who desperately needs help.
Q: How come some of your lyrics seem so sexist?
A: The lyrics are written from a male's perspective. Sometimes women can seem like the most evil creatures on earth and can make a guy want to do horrible, horrible things to them. Other times women are seen by men to be inhumanly perfect goddesses, which men would gladly give their lives for. Both ends of the spectrum are represented in The EverDead's lyrics... but just don't expect a balanced mix.
Q: I sent you guys an Email, how come you never wrote me back?
A: We read every email and try to respond to all of them but sometimes we get really busy and too caught up in other things. Or, we just don't like you.
Q: I have an old EverDead promo CD that says your full length CD "Zombies, Werewolves, & Demons" was supposed to come out on Halloween 2002. It's now 2005 and that CD still hasn't been released. What the fuck is taking so long?
A: Originally, 'Zombies, Werewolves, & Demons' was going to be our very first release when we first formed a partnership with @ntidote Records. We had started to record the CD and expected it to be done by Halloween of 2002. However, while we were recording it we realized that some of our older songs were vastly different from our newer stuff and we didn't want the CD to sound like it was recorded by two totally different bands. To solve the problem we decided to first release all of our older songs on their own EP, which became the 'Slumber Party Massacre EP' (later reissued with bonus tracks as 'Slumber Party Massacre II'). 'Zombies, Werewolves & Demons' was further delayed due to changes in the band's lineup. At the end of 2003 we went into the studio and began recording the album, but unfortunately the studio was destroyed during a fight and the recordings were lost. Now, after taking a year off from the band in 2004, we're back in the studio working on this long overdue album. "Zombies, Werewolves, & Demons" should be released before Fall of 2005.
Q: I thought your singer's name was Adam 'Draven'. How come now his last name is spelled 'Dravean'?
A: Well it turns out that Adam had been misspelling his name for the past five years. The correct spelling is 'Dravean' which is pronounced as Dray-Vee-In.
Q: What's the deal with your guitarist's name? Sometimes its Sam Bones, and other times its Sam Straker. Which is it?
A: It's both. He's also known as Sexy-Sam, Sam-Bam, The Bone Senator, Sex Bison, and even Grandpa Werewolf.
Q: How come the intro to 'Slumber Party Massacre' sounds like the intro to the Mister Monster song 'Prom Night'? If you guys ripped off Mister Monster, I think J~sin Trioxin should kick your ass!
A: We wrote Slumber Party Massacre two years before we ever heard of Mister Monster. That intro riff is very basic and is probably used in countless songs.
Q: I noticed some of your song titles are the same or similar to the names of 'The Abductors' songs. What's the deal?
A: We also noticed that we seem to have some odd things in common with The Abductors. However, none of it was intentional. Neither of the bands knew about each other until after our respective songs had been named and written. Also, although some of our songs share similar names, they sound nothing alike.
Q: What cover songs have you guys played live?
A: Quite a few Glenn Danzig songs: 'I Turned Into A Martian', 'Skulls', 'Halloween', 'Mother Of Mercy', & 'To Walk The Night'. We've also covered: The Dwarves' 'The Crucifixion Is Now', Faith No More's 'The Gentle Art Of Making Enemies', Balzac's 'Out of the Blue', and we also used to play a very evil version of Tommy James & the Shondels' oldies classic, 'I Think We're Alone Now'.
Q: I'd love to send you guys money, do you mind?
A: No, not at all. In the 'Contact Us' section of the site you'll find an address with which to send money, nude photographs (young attractive women only), ninja skulls, and drawings of your favorite Mortal Kombat characters (no one after MK2, please).
Q: What is your relationship with the band Cancerslug?
A: We feel that Cancerslug is one of the best underground bands currently in existence and they're also one of Adam Dravean's favorite bands of all time. We've become friends with them because we share a similar outlook on music and have many mutual interests. We're also both friends with the artist Rob Villareal who has done cover art for both bands. We should be playing some shows with Cancerslug sometime in the near future.
Q: Why has The EverDead gone through so many lineup changes?
A: The key members of The EverDead have pretty much remained with the band since the beginning. Throughout the years we've had several friends join the band to fill in different positions and they have all contributed something to help The EverDead become what it is today. They all left the band for various reasons.
